Engaging with Communities

Making a positive impact in the communities we call home is essential to Trex. We contribute to building stronger and healthier communities through our recycling programs, employee volunteer efforts and charitable donations.

Teaming Up With Our Neighbors

Two adults are picking up trash along a grassy area beside dense green bushes. One person in a bright yellow shirt uses a litter grabber to place waste into a large black garbage bag held by another person in an orange safety jacket. Both wear work gloves and casual outdoor clothing suitable for manual cleanup. The scene suggests a community or environmental volunteer effort focused on keeping nature areas clean.
NexTrex® Community

As one of the largest recyclers of PE film in North America, we feel a deep sense of responsibility to raise consumer awareness about the importance of recycling. We believe that for the circular economy to be achieved, everyone needs access to participate. Otherwise, items like plastic bags will continue to be sent to landfill and not recycled and returned to productive uses like the manufacture of Trex products.

A teacher stands at the front of a classroom giving a presentation to a group of students. A large screen displays a slide about items not to include in a recycling or waste program, featuring illustrated examples of various materials. The classroom setting includes lab tables, a door with a sign, and educational wall graphics. Students of different ages sit facing the screen, listening to the lesson. The overall scene conveys an educational, informative atmosphere focused on environmental awareness.
NexTrex® Partners

Through our community outreach and collection programs, NexTrex® Grassroots Movement and Plastic Film Recycling Challenge, we partner with municipalities, non-profits, small businesses and schools to promote environmental awareness, mobilize grassroots action and make PE film recycling more accessible throughout the continental United States and Alaska. In 2025, we recycled more than 6.6 million pounds of waste PE from community sources through these two programs.

Investing in Our Communities

Trex and our employees support a broad array of charitable organizations through donations and volunteering. Together, we contributed more than $410,000 to community causes in 2025.

All Hands on Deck

Our volunteer initiative, All Hands on Deck, focuses and deepens the impact created by our people. This volunteer program guides individuals and teams at Trex toward local organizations that need timely volunteer help.

Breaking Down Barriers

We’re proud of our ongoing partnership with NW Works, a nonprofit that bridges the employment gap for people with disabilities and barriers to employment. We are working to transition more NW Works employees to full-time employment with us.
