Trex Transcend® Decking: Healing Garden at Winchester Medical Center
Valley Health Winchester Medical Center, recognized as one of the top hospitals in Virginia by U.S. News & World Report, partnered with Trex on an outdoor expansion project for their cancer center treatment facility. As a companion to the cancer treatment services the hospital provides, the hospital envisioned an outdoor space that could be utilized during hospital stays and visits with family. Designed to evoke feelings of peace and serenity, the Medical Center's new Healing Garden and Tranquil Terrace was built with Trex Transcend® decking and complemented by Trex Transcend® railing. Rocking chairs from the Trex® Outdoor Furniture™ collection provide abundant seating options on the large terrace deck, with Trex® Pergolas™ installed overlooking a pond and providing partial shading.
More than two miles of Trex decking was used to build the Healing Garden's curved deck, featuring a variety of colors and inlaid leaf patterns built into the deck to add to the peaceful garden design aesthetic. The new outdoor structure integrates seamlessly into the medical center's surrounding garden area and also serves as a view for patients in nearby oncology treatment rooms.
